Originally hailing from Hackney, London, Mark began his hairdressing career in Knightsbridge under Herta Keller, one time Vidal Sassoon’s European Art Director. Herta taught him the rules of the craft and his eye for detail.
In 1989 Mark came to Sydney where he joined Garland and Garland to meet Val Garland the queen of rule breakers, where he quickly learnt how to break them. Joining an elite team, focused on cutting and styling for fashion, film and television and the music industry, Mark was steeped in a culture of collaboration. From there, Antony Whitaker where he met head colourist Kathy Gilbert
Moving to the iconic Sydney hairdressing salon Helmet to take on the training program focusing on geometric shapes he was able to combine polish and restraint his technique.
Later at Muse, Mark trained and mentored a new generation of cutters and stylists
In 2012 he launched Crown Hair along with Kathy Gilbert creating an intimate space focused on their use of collaborative ideas, creating an environment where colour and shape rule.
With over 35 years experience and one of Sydney’s most sought-after hairdressers. his experience, talent and unique aesthetic, set him apart and put him in a league of his own.
